Reading English is necessary to understand recipe instructions, labels, meal charts, and use measuring tools. Standing on feet, bending, pulling, and lifting 35-50 pounds is common, as is exposure to high heat and motorized kitchen equipment. Must be a professional and flexible team player willing to work nights and weekends, some holidays, and take on extra hours if necessary. The role typically reports to the head cook or chef.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic prep cook  who can deliver outstanding results in the kitchen prepping meals for our chef/cook. Your main responsibilities will be to stock, prepare and measure condiments and slice and dice foods. You’ll keep your workstation and equipment clean and follow all required safety protocols. Good organization skills, the ability to take direction well, read recipe instructions, as well as handle a variety of kitchen equipment, sharp knives, and measuring tools are required. Some experience and an associate’s degree are preferred but not required. If you are a positive self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, we want to meet you! Prep Cook responsibilities
  • Wash, sort, prep, slice, and measure ingredients for recipes, using condiments, vegetables, and proteins, and mixing sauces for use in various meals.
  • Abide by food safety guidelines and implement COVID-19 safety measures in all food prep areas and stations where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is used
  • Keep all prep and workstation areas organized and equipment hygienic and sanitized at closing
  • Read recipe measurements, meal charts, label instructions in English, and use the correct measuring tools
  • Perform other basic cooking duties as necessary, such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups, reducing sauces, and assisting other cooks in the kitchen if needed
Prep Cook qualifications
  • You have the basic skills necessary to prep food for a chef/cook with minimal supervision expected
  • Available to work weekends and holidays, pitching in extra hours whenever needed
  • Able to read recipes, meal charts, and labels and understand directions in English
  • Basic familiarity with operating kitchen equipment
  • Should be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time and also bend, pull, and lift 35-50 pounds
  • Prefer someone with some kitchen prep experience and associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent, but it is not required
