Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist our clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Jobseekers should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. Family Attorney responsibilities

• Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
• Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action
• Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
• Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process
• Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
• Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current

Family Attorney qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required
• 1-2 years of experience in working with family law and real estate required
• Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association)
• Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
• Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
