Personal Injury Legal Assistant responsibilities
Respond to emails and phone calls, contact opposing attorney offices, take dictation, and inform the team of deadlines
Consult with expert witnesses, clients, medical professionals, and vendors
Ordering medical and billing records and electronically filing in state and federal courts
Help prepare litigation documents like pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs, and proofread as needed
Schedule team meetings and appointments, such as depositions, make travel arrangements, and coordinate with event vendors
Utilize daily time records to properly process client billing, with assistance from the accounting department
Perform legal research, as needed, with help from attorneys and paralegals, and have an understanding of medical terminology
Personal Injury Legal Assistant qualifications
An Associate’s degree or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required
1-2 years of prior experience in a personal injury law firm as a secretary or administrative assistant
Must have experience in use of legal software, case management, and docketing programs
Proficient with MS Office products
Able to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills
