We are looking for an experienced legal assistant who can help the busy attorneys and paralegals at our law office assist our clients. You’ll be responsible for managing office correspondence, including answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings and travel, and ensuring our legal team is aware of upcoming deadlines. You’ll also assist with preparing legal documents and contracts, and perform any other tasks as needed to ensure our firm is operating efficiently. Legal Assistant responsibilities
  • Manage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines
  • Assist with the creation of various litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents a needed
  • Make travel arrangements, schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
  • Use daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting department
  • Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals
  • Undertake other duties as needed to ensure the firm operates efficiently
Legal Assistant qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate’s degree is a plus
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an administrative assistant or secretary
  • Must be able to type at least 50 WPM
  • Experience with legal software, litigation case management, and docketing programs
  • Comfortable working with all Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with quick turnaround times
  • Organizational skills and communication skills are necessary for this position
