Restoration Technician

Restoration Technician job overview

Restoration technicians specialize in assessing, rebuilding, and restoring homes and businesses after man-made and natural disasters. Working environments and responsibilities will vary based on the job site's disaster. They are responsible for identifying what can be restored, salvaged, or repaired, and what needs to be disposed of and replaced. Duties are assigned by the work site's crew chief and may include fire restoration services, mitigation, inspection cleaning, mold remediation, carpet cleaning, water extraction, pack-out debris, and restoring the property. This individual has earned and passed IICRC certification to successfully perform inspection cleaning and restoration services. The restoration technician is part of an emergency response team, will typically work full-time shifts, and drive to their job sites.

Restoration Technician responsibilities
  • Assess property damaged by fire, water, mold, and weather disasters
  • Clean and store salvageable belongings and property
  • Remove and replace damaged drywall, plumbing, and related materials
  • Perform water mitigation and extraction services
  • Decontaminate and deodorize indoor space
  • Repair and restore the structure
Restoration Technician qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have IICRC (inspection cleaning and restoration certification) certification, WRT (water damage restoration endorsement) is preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and in good physical fitness and stamina for cleanup
  • Comfortable with using power and hand tools
  • Must have great communication, listening, and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable with fieldwork, and working in all types of weather and environments
