We’re looking for a general contractor who can lead our labor crew and subcontractors to success and get the job done right. You’ll help our construction company plan and manage all new construction and remodeling projects for homeowners. You’ll need to manage project costs and obtain all building permits. Our ideal candidate has at least 1 year of general contractor experience overseeing construction projects. Work on larger projects would be a bonus. General Contractor responsibilities
  • Discuss project costs with the client and help the project manager plan out the day-to-day building project process
  • Produce a written proposal for homeowners, including a bid for the project costs
  • Hire subcontractors and ensure they meet licensing requirements
  • Manage construction workers and subcontractors, perform routine inspections on-site, and give guidance as needed to make sure each construction project results in a high-quality finished product
  • Record a daily log of construction project progress and home improvement updates for the project manager and homeowner
  • Evaluate subcontractor progress according to deadlines and performance goals to ensure construction is set to finish on time and meets quality standards
  • Incorporate client feedback during the building process and help the construction crew and subcontractors execute change orders
  • Make sure tools, vehicles, and equipment are well-maintained and schedule maintenance for equipment if needed
  • Order all the necessary building project equipment, and reorder stock promptly so the project can keep moving
  • Prevent injuries and slowdowns by demanding complete adherence to health and safety standards on construction sites, and quickly report issues to the project manager if they do arise
  • Assist the project manager with any other duties as needed for the entire project
General Contractor qualifications
  • A high school diploma is required, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1 year of prior experience as a general contractor or in a similar role required, 3+ years of experience preferred
  • General contractor's license required
  • OSHA 30 certification and firm adherence to safety protocols on the job-site
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and the entire building process, including building codes, blueprints, permits, construction equipment, material resources, construction processes, and project management principles
  • Has basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Physical stamina to lift at least 40 lbs and use heavy equipment
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and time-management skills
