We are looking for an experienced construction superintendent who can lead our labor crew and subcontractors. You’ll help our construction company plan and manage projects from start to finish for homeowners. Additional responsibilities include daily scheduling, maintaining the safety and compliance of a construction site, and supervising all activities. Our ideal candidate has at least 5 years of construction field experience with leadership skills in managing general contractors highly preferred. Construction Superintendent responsibilities
  • Discuss the project's costs with clients and make sure the project stays within budget
  • Prepare a written proposal for homeowners that includes a cost estimate for the project
  • Recruit subcontractors and make sure they have all of the necessary permits
  • Ensure that each construction project produces a high-quality finished product, manage construction workers, conduct routine on-site inspections, and provide guidance as needed
  • Keep a daily record of project progress and home improvements for the project manager and the homeowner
  • Assess subcontractor progress against timelines and performance targets to ensure that work is completed on schedule and to the highest possible quality
  • Require complete adherence to health and safety regulations on construction sites to avoid accidents and delays, and report any problems to the project manager as soon as possible
Construction Superintendent qualifications
  • A high school diploma is required, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5 years of prior experience as a general contractor is required for this position; additional management experience preferred
  • General contractor's license required
  • OSHA 30 certification and firm adherence to safety protocols on the job-site
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and the entire building process, including building codes, blueprints, permits, construction equipment, material resources, construction processes, and project management principles
  • Has basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Physical stamina to lift at least 40 lbs and use heavy equipment
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and time-management skills
