PAW Health Network is a 24-Hour Animal Care Center that provides an array of diverse services offered to the community. These services include the following: Walk-Ins, Routine Care, Emergency Care, Urgent Care, Massage Therapy, Canine Blood Donation Program, and our Service Dog Registry Program. We have numerous relationships and contracts with local organizations that we are extremely active in. As PAW becomes more involved in providing care to the community our need for more Veterinarians continues to grow. All roles are responsible for supporting the servitude of patient care; ensuring that all patients are treated ethically with regard to health and safety; ensuring that faults in process, training, and procedure are identified and communicated; creating and maintaining the efficiency of the process. This role is a licensed position that functions in the care of animals as defined in Wisconsin State Statue Chapter VE 3.  This role is held accountable to the standards set forth in Wisconsin State Statute Chapter VE 7, which provides the standards of practice and unprofessional conduct for veterinary technicians.  This role is required to maintain compliance with Wisconsin State Statute Chapter VE 10, which provides the guidelines for continuing veterinary education for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Responsibilities

The Veterinarian is responsible for ensuring that all animal patients and owner caregivers are treated ethically concerning the health and safety of the animal. They will focus on the efficient flow of processes, services, and offerings that benefit our patients, caregivers, and hospital employees alike, performing quality medical services and exceptional service in order to do so.

  • Establish informed consent with owning caregivers, acting agents, or financing agents, with regard to available diagnostic and treatment options for the patient’s presenting complaint 
  • Perform triage-based medicine to assist clinic operations 
  • Maintain thorough electronic medical and surgical records of patient care 
  • Coordinate written medical treatment protocols for inpatients and outpatients 
  • Effectively communicate the condition and patient status with staff and caregivers 
  • Be a resource for staff training 
  • Administration of injectable medications, performing first aid, and other paramedical duties 
  • Ensure patient euthanasia is performed in a humane fashion 
  • Be a resource to the marketing department by providing information and educational materials 
  • Follow up with caregivers to ensure quality of service, as needed 
  • Provide timely and professional email correspondences 
  • Understand hospital logistics to ensure efficient efficiency and to reduce cost 
  • Be a resource for inventory control, to aid in loss prevention

Qualifications

Computer Skills

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations 

  • Role requires a valid license to practice veterinary medicine as issued by the State of Wisconsin

Compensation
$100,000 - $150,000 yearly
