We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Traffic and Criminal Defense Legal Assistant to join our fast-paced legal practice in Petersburg, VA.

The successful candidate will work closely with our paralegals to provide exceptional customer service and maximum results to clients in the areas of criminal and traffic defense.

We are a fast-paced, fun, creative group that is focused on helping people in Virginia (Lexington and Petersburg-based) get their best results after being arrested for a crime or cited for an infraction.

• Working up and managing case files for the general district, circuit, and federal courts according to policies and procedures
• Assisting attorneys in obtaining relevant and important evidence
• Communicating proactively and effectively with clients
• Drafting and conferring legal documents and correspondence to various legal agencies
• Monitoring deadlines and maintaining calendars
• Traveling with attorneys and/or paralegals to court hearings, jails, and other law offices

Requirements:

• Previous office experience
• Strong attention to detail
• Demonstrate a strong ability to follow through on assignments
• Able to take direction
• Polished and ability to professionally interact with clients and other staff, attorneys, judges, etc.
• Proficiency in written and oral communications (English)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (web-based applications)
• Critical thinking skills

Preferred Skills:

• Legal experience is a Plus, special consideration is given to those who have worked with criminal defense in any capacity
• Familiarity with state and federal rules and procedures, gathering evidence, filing requirement, etc. is a Plus
• Experience with sales and marketing/sales integration a Plus
