The Neighborhood Nerds Member Center is divided into three teams - Admin, Engage, and Support. 

Support Nerds solve problems. You must be a platypus, like our mascot, Gizmo. A platypus is a little of this and a little of that. Our Nerds are technicians, teachers, therapists, advocates, and more. You're here to solve any and all issues a Member might have.

You will work on a Team of Support Nerds to close Tickets as quickly as possible. Tickets are created by Nerds and Members. We work off of a Queue system of First In/First Out unless the priority is changed by the Engage Team.

  • Help drive the queue of open tickets to zero every day
  • Help every Member with any and all issues
  • Support your team... help every Nerd
  • Discover, plan, review, implement, educate, maintain... repeat

Additional Requirements

  • An aptitude for acquiring skills in technology and an eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent time management skills and can make decisions quickly.


  • Hands-on repairs/upgrades/alterations of computers, cell phones, TVs, A/V, Networking, and other Technology.
  • Any experience with Technical Writing is very valuable.
  • Of course, any experience with diagnosing, troubleshooting, fixing problems is crucial. 


  • Word Processing (we document everything)
  • Problem Solving (quickly troubleshoot and fix issues)
  • Research (find answers in our Knowledge Base, our Ticketing System, another Nerd, Online, Etc.)
  • Educating (teaching Members and other Nerds)
  • Marketing/Selling (all Nerds are expected to know and communicate effectively the benefits of NN Membership).
  • Experience with the following is a benefit - Slack, Trello, Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail, MS Office.


  • Nerds are educated and very knowledgeable in many different fields. 
  • Nerds speak well, write well, and always look good doing it.

About Neighborhood Nerds, Inc.

Neighborhood Nerds, Inc. was formed in 2012 by Leonard Knight and Mark Armstrong. Leonard had been running a similar concept as Taking IT Home. Neighborhood Nerds has a simple goal of providing CARE to our Members. We believe customer service and customer care have all but disappeared in the world and we’re on a mission to correct that oversight. We will, at the very least, resolve it for our Members.

Neighborhood Nerds is a subsidiary of our larger vision, Gizmo Cares. Today, Neighborhood Nerds is retail Member Centers with teams of Nerds working to serve their local Members by resolving requests as quickly as possible. Our Nerds work to discover opportunities to serve their Members; Plan solutions for the Member’s needs; Review those solutions with the Members for budget, schedule, complexity, etc.; Implement the solution; Educate the Member about the solution; Maintain the solution for the Member.
