We have a career opportunity for a doer and a visionary with excellent communication and rapport-building skills to serve as our next Executive Director at Elwyn of our day programs and contracted services.   

In this role, you will have an opportunity to create the vision and roll up your sleeves and implement the plan. You naturally inspire others to want to do their very best work while holding others accountable, too. 


What else will you be seeing, doing, and experiencing? 

  • Tackling business and operational challenges head-on and standardizing policies, procedures and making positive change happen 
  • Building relationships internally and externally 
  • Data analytics- you appreciate and have a knack for metrics, data and using it to map the course forward that is profitable and realistic 
  • Developing, coaching, and mentoring a site team of 3-4 direct reports and overall accountability of approximately 50 employees
  • Overseeing all program operations making sure there is adherence to program and contract requirements 
  • Customer Relationships- you manage these and manage them well to ensure HIGH satisfaction 
  • Creative problem-solver- you love puzzles and have a knack for coming up with resourceful ideas and then making them happen 
  • You definitely won’t sit still long. You will visit our multiple contract sites throughout the week as well
  • You will manage a $1-2M operating budget


What baseline requirements, skills, etc. will you need to achieve the outcomes we need in this role? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field with 10+ years related experience
  • Knowledge of non-profit industry and 5 years’ commercial, federal, and/or state contract experience preferred 
  • Negotiation skills- ability to serve our government contracts in the best interest of the company while ensuring compliance with program requirements
  • Strategic, yet hands-on leader- not afraid to dive into the tactical day to day but can also see the big picture and how to adjust it to help us get where we need to go 
  • Analytical, budget, and critical thinking skills 
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to have respectful conversations, resolve conflict, and present information in a meaningful way 
  • Coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to have performance-related conversations and hold others accountable 
  • Working knowledge of employment law, DOL wage and hour, OSHA, Ability One 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) clearance 
  • Current driver’s license and in-state residence with 3 years’ driving experience in the U.S. along with an acceptable driving record
