Angela Brown & Associates PLLC

Our growing firm is seeking a well-qualified senior attorney who can handle a heavy caseload, work independently, and zealously represent our clients both in and out of court. To be considered, you should have solid trial experience and be willing to mentor our newer associates. Your excellent communication and writing skills will come in handy as you thoughtfully position our clients toward favorable outcomes. Reach out to us today if this opportunity sounds ideal for you.

Responsibilities

  • Act as first point of contact with retained clients
  • Proactively and efficiently manage cases from beginning to end
  • Handle customer care, ensuring clients are up-to-date on the status of their case and feel informed about their options
  • Thoroughly document case progress through defined processes, as well as help develop those processes in response to customer needs
  • Review, organize and analyze client documents and document production
  • Review staff-generated pleadings and other office documents
  • Meet with supervising attorneys to regularly share information and define strategy
  • Use programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Clio, and Google Apps to communicate and report
  • Sit first chair on family law hearings and trials
  • Participate in marketing activities to promote the law firm
  • Handle initial consults as needed
  • Provide support and guidance for younger associates and paralegals
  • Manage and empower your law clerk to learn about family law and assist you with your cases

Qualifications
  • Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical, along with time management and interpersonal skills
  • Active member in good standing with local and state bar associations
  • Completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree, as well as 3-year law degree from an accredited law school
  • Prior experience representing clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration

Skills and experience are required, appreciated, and valued, but personality, character, intelligence, and integrity will be paramount considerations. High-maintenance, humorless, or self-important individuals will not succeed in this position and should not apply. You should already be a self-starter, quick learner, and stay cool under pressure. You must be compassionate toward our clients in the office and a beast in the courtroom. You must be collegial and fun, but industrious. Coping skills are a must: our cases/clients can be intense. The ideal applicant has a background in family law, working with children, and/or working with parents. Above all else, you must have a demonstrated ability to talk people off of the ledge. We strive to only go to court over serious issues for our clients.

It would be extra awesome if you were: admitted to practice law in any state adjoining Texas, fluent in Spanish, a networking machine, and/or someone who really gets into creating processes for a law firm.

Compensation
$95,000 - $135,000 yearly
About Angela Brown & Associates PLLC

We're a small law firm with big ideas. Our driving philosophy is that "children deserve healthy access to both their parents," which is why we spend each day working toward making our parents better parents and protecting their children from the bad behaviors of the other parent via innovative visitation plans. Every part of our practice -- how we bill, how we communicate, how we manage tasks -- focuses on that mission. That means we are not looking for employees; we're looking for team members who can embrace our mission and show that belief every day to clients. We are a small firm and we are looking for team members that will be committed to the firm's growth and expansion in the future.
