The Sales Manager is responsible for managing our real estate agents and inside sales agents within the Jenny Maraghy Team (JMT) at Compass. This includes owning the recruitment, training, support, performance management, and offboarding of agents.  

Responsibilities

Recruiting

  • Identify agents that would be good candidates to join JMT
  • Attend industry networking events to promote JMT to other agents
  • Follow up with prospective agents to maintain positive JMT relationship 
  • Conduct initial interviews for prospective agents

Training

  • Develop and maintain end-to-end training program for all agents
  • Schedule and deliver on-going training series
  • Schedule and deliver ad-hoc training sessions as needed
  • Conduct role-play training for new agents 
  • Shadow new agents on appointments 
  • Coordinate with broker and other resources to provide updated guidance and training on new rules and regulations
  • Document training and best practices for offline review by agents (e.g. on an internal wiki)

Support

  • Bring high energy leadership to the sales team, delivering motivation and inspiration
  • Serve as the “first line of defense” for questions from agents
  • Help develop FAQ and other reference content, that can be reviewed offline by agents (e.g. on an internal wiki)
  • Help agents coordinate backup support from other members of the team, as needed
  • Coordinate with JMT admin team, including marketing support and operations
  • Lead morning huddle calls
  • Solicit and generate topics for weekly team meetings; present on sales topics
  • Provide ideas and feedback to management
  • Performance management
  • Contribute to business planning and goal setting for JMT
  • Set and document individual goals with each agent
  • Work with operations team to define performance metrics and targets 
  • Track progress on performance metrics and goals
  • Provide reporting on sales metrics and goals 
  • Communicate performance status to agents, including quarterly one-on-one meetings, and follow-up as needed
  • Lead performance recognition of agents
  • Offboarding
  • Perform exit interview for agents that leave JMT
  • Work with operations team to confirm all employee exit procedures are completed

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will 

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • Have at least two years of experience in real estate sales 
  • Communicate clearly and confidently 
  • Have experience managing a sales team
  • Be comfortable leading a sales team of 20+ agents
  • Be comfortable using a suite of modern technology tools

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Licensed real estate professional 
  • Two years of experience in real estate sales 
  • Ability to travel to properties across the Richmond metropolitan area 
  • Be able to work standard hours (9am-5pm) while providing remote support on nights and weekends

Compensation
$65,000 - $80,000 yearly plus bonus
