The Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel in San Pedro, CA is looking for a PM Restaurant Supervisor. The right candidate will be someone who enjoys interacting with people and readily displays warm hospitality to all guests.

Principal Responsibilities:
Greets guests as they enter, monitoring the volume of food to ensure guest satisfaction, placing order for more food items as needed, maintaining a clean and orderly dining space for guests, maintaining a courteous and efficient operation to ensure guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for all functions of administration and planning of the restaurants to meet the daily needs of the operations.
  • Maximize food and beverage department profitability. Implement effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs and monitor the restaurants’ budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses.
  • Monitor and, when necessary, develop and implement schedules for the operation of all restaurants and bars to achieve a profitable result.
  • Regularly review and evaluate the degree of customer satisfaction of the restaurants. Investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints. Respond to all guest inquiries and special guest requests.
  • Take necessary action to ensure all food and beverage standards are being met. Frequently test food and beverage products and presentation for consistency and quality.
  • Recommend new marketing and/or operational policies and procedures when necessary to keep up with demand and market changes. Develop, implement, and market new and creative menu items to attract a pre-determined customer segment such as holiday and special event promotions. Promote the cross-selling of other hotel outlets and Packard-managed hotels.
  • Hire, train, supervise, develop, discipline, counsel, and evaluate restaurant managers, supervisors, and occasionally line employees according to Packard corporate policies and procedures. This is including but not limited to brand and PHG specific procedures, and financial control procedures for accurate cash handling, vouchers, and inventories.
  • Lead by example. Perform any duties required during times of emergency and/or high volume and show positive leadership to all team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures that relate to the restaurant as well as all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of all work and service areas.


Qualifications

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY

  • The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essentials functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Considerable skill in math and algebraic equations using percentages.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.

QUALIFYING STANDARDS

Education

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Four-year college degree preferred.

Experience

  • At least five years’ experience in food and beverage/restaurant management required.

Licenses or Certificates

  • Food Service Sanitation, Alcohol Service Permit (if state-required), CPR Certification, and/or First Aid Training preferred.

Grooming

  • All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).


  • The ideal candidate will put pride in their work, be reliable, and be friendly and professional at all times. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

Compensation
