Repair Tech 3 includes all the qualifications for cylinder repair, manual machinist, welder, and fluid power repair. Tech 3’s have the skill set and perform all of the listed duties below on a regular basis. Repair tech 3 is the highest level of technician in a fluid power repair shop. The technician has at least five years of experience and is willing to teach tech 1 and tech 2’s how to perform duties they don’t have full experience in doing. The Technician is required to perform the description above with high accuracy in a timely manner as well as be an example to all other repair technicians.

(Cylinder repair) primary duties include but are not limited to; the safe repair of hydraulic cylinders or related component parts including diagnostic troubleshooting, disassembly, measurement, data collection, failure analysis, repair, re-assembly, and testing. Includes the proper use of mechanical and fluid power testing and measuring equipment and documentation of results. Requires work at Hyspeco Repair shops and at customer locations if ever needed.

(Manual Machinist) primary duties include but are not limited to set up and operates manually controlled lathe and milling machines to skilled precision tolerances. Machinists will be required to machine parts to pattern using the existing part as pattern or using drawing as pattern. The materials being machined will consist of many different materials. The most common materials are chrome rod, hard chrome rod, cold rolled round, aluminum, cast iron, and brass. Machinists know how to properly set up and machine many different types of cuts. Some of the common cuts are grooves, tapers, slots, and threading. All of these cuts can be internal or external with many options depending on pattern. Machinists are required to be able to perform the description above with high accuracy in a timely manner.

(Welder) primary duties include but are not limited to set up and perform weld fabrication of product using various types of welding including TIG, Stick, and MIG welding per specifications. All these types of welding are performed in various different ways like welding internally, externally, under, on side, or on top of the item being welded. Welders are required to know the proper welding type to use for each material and set up welders for proper penetration of materials. The Welder takes care of the welder machines as needed. Welders perform the description above with high accuracy, attention to detail, attention to looks of weld, and in a timely manner.

(Fluid power repair) primary duties include but are not limited to perform complete component repair and testing on various fluid power components other than cylinders. Fluid power repair technician inspects, diagnoses, repairs, builds new and installs fluid power systems, Hydraulic power units, and mobile hydraulic equipment. Techs are required to read blueprints and schematic of fluid power systems and components. Properly test components and systems to OEM specifications using various types of test equipment. Test equipment includes pump test bench, motor test bench, valve test stand, cylinder test stand, handheld flow meters, pressure gauges, presses, and other test equipment as needed. Techs operate and/or use related equipment and tools which include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, etc. Fluid power repair technicians perform the description above with high accuracy, attention to detail, and in a timely manner.

Cylinder Repair

  • Diagnoses hydraulic cylinder to troubleshoot and determine the cause of failure.
  • Measure with calipers, micrometers, and tape measure.
  • Dismantles cylinders maintaining identification of each component part, labeling, and/or photographing parts as necessary.
  • Advises supervisor of required new or re-manufactured parts, if necessary.
  • Re-aggregates cleaned, repaired, and/or replacement parts from other workgroups and performs re-assembly and final testing per Customer, EASA, OEM, or Horner specifications.
  • Documents final testing on applicable forms.
  • Return all completed signed documentation, photos, etc. to the shop office.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Work with minimal supervision to complete tasks on time.
  • Operate and/or use related equipment and tools which include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, etc.
  • Maintain level of work performance in accordance with Company Quality Assurance standards and/or job order specifications.
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Upholds Hyspeco Safety and Personnel Policies.
  • Upholds ISO 9001:2015 requirements as defined in Hyspeco’s quality procedures/processes. Continuous improvement is a key performance indicator.

Manual Machinist

  • Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements. Trade skills are a top priority.
  • Uses precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as a lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, saws, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
  • Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal. Recognizes, deploys, and properly uses inserts and tooling.
  • Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures, and removes fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
  • Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to set up production.
  • Knowledge metals and quality and machinability and uses of metals, alloys, and other materials.
  • This is not a CNC machinist position.


  • Perform welding duties
  • Weld various metals as specified by procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, oral instructions, and with or without the use of weld procedure specifications (WPS). Welds range from simple tasks to complex welds, performed in varying positions.
  • Work includes set-up, laying out work using fixtures/jigs to fabricate, modify, or repair parts.
  • Weld in various angles on many shapes of materials.

Fluid Power Repair

  • Diagnoses hydraulic (fluid power) equipment and components parts to troubleshoot and determine the cause of failure.
  • Access available OEM Specifications or related documents for the component or equipment.
  • Isolate problem areas of system, equipment, or components.
  • Verify the defective system, equipment, or component part.
  • Prepare the system, equipment, or component part for disassembly including necessary lockout /tag out, isolation, bracing, line bleeding, and depressurization.
  • Dismantles equipment maintaining identification of each component part, labeling, and/or photographing parts as necessary.
  • Climb up down, in, and out of mobile equipment being worked on.
  • Properly diagnose, repair, and test all fluid power components, power units, and fluid power systems on mobile equipment.
  • Install new fluid power system on mobile equipment.
  • Build hydraulic power units from parts and blueprints provided.
  • Operate hydraulic test stands to test hydraulic components to OEM specifications.
