I am looking for an organized, detail-oriented, friendly, and experienced paralegal to play an important role in my law firm. You'll draft legal documents such as affidavits, deeds, closing statements, prepare briefs, conduct legal research for trial preparation, and keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible. You will assist me with all aspects of the practice. The firm has a focus on real estate closings but handles other matters. Responsibilities
- Coordinate law office activity, including the drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible
- Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
- Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
- Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems
- Examine and verify the accuracy of documentation such as public records, deeds, property title records, property ownership, leases, surveys, contracts, and agreements needed to produce a clear title
- Coordinate with the loan officer, mortgage loan processor, and underwriter to ensure all closing instructions are followed as per the closing package, and all underwriting commitments have been satisfied
- Support the attorney with administrative assistant essential duties, including clerical and data entry assistance
- Accurately process information to ensure that all items are complete, all settlement figures are correct, the transaction is closed/recorded/disbursed, and any outstanding issues are resolved
- Submit pertinent title and loan documents into software programs to record transactions and complete all necessary goals
- Interface with title examiner and underwriter to prepare title insurance policy and binders and title commitments, and with loan closer to prepare HUD-1 real estate closing statements
- Meet with clients, customers, realtors, and any other third parties, as applicable and needed to ensure that all goals and procedures of the firm are met
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills
- At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
- Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
- 1-3 years of experience with real estate transactions, title processing, title company pre-processor, or as a mortgage loan processor is desired
- Outstanding communication, customer service, research, and analysis skills are preferred
- Proficient computer skills with numerous programs including MS Office is vital
- Some college is helpful; a high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Notary public certification required

Compensation
$22 - $25 hourly
