We are currently seeking a Quality Inspector to join us in a facility located in Fletcher, NC!

Hours: Monday through Friday (3:15 PM to 11:45 PM). Some overtime on weekends.

  • Performs inspections and testing to include product performance and material testing on a daily basis.
  • Document results of inspections, measurements and tests (IMT) according to procedures.
  • File and maintain records, reports and samples of IMT.
  • Generate quality documentation package and samples for shipments as a result of IMT.
  • Assure timely release of material for IMT using ERP System.
  • Initiate nonconforming material reports (NCRs) by placing hold tags on suspect material.

This position requires compliance with all OSHA regulations, following all safety rules and reporting any unsafe conditions. You will properly use any personal protection equipment and comply with 5S guidelines to ensure a clean and organized work place are essential.

The Quality Inspector may work in the following areas:

  • Receiving Inspection Lab
  • Materials Testing Lab
  • Measurements Lab
  • Manufacturing Shop Floor

IM&T may involve the following detailed activities:

Both Wire and Parts:

  • Retrieve samples for IM&T from manufacturing and discard of samples when finished.
  • Properly read and use inch and millimeter micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform appearance checks.
  • Perform dimensional checks.
  • Perform materials testing.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and reorder as needed.
  • Learn data entry methods and SPC concepts.


  • Straighten wire for tensile testing.
  • Use tensile test machine and calculate tensile strength, reduction of area and elongation.
  • Record data in correct format per Quality procedures.
  • Do hardness and spark testing.
  • Section samples using band saw, rebar cutter and cutoff machine.
  • Sand, grind and mount samples.
  • Polish and etch samples (also includes mixing etching solution).
  • Inspect samples for carbon levels and microstructure.
  • Enter results in ERP System to release wire to ship.


  • Do hardness testing.
  • Use CMM, comparators, plating thickness equipment, surface roughness equipment.
  • Do coating weights.
  • Section samples using bandsaw, rebar cutter and cutoff machine.
  • Sand, grind and mount samples.
  • Polish and etch samples (also includes making etching solution).

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

Candidate should have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings. One year of prior inspection and/or auditing experience and proficient using all relative inspection, measuring and test equipment (IM&TE).


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration, moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

$12.45 per hour
