Neighborhood Ministries

The Parenting Por Vida (PPV) Director will oversee and implement family services programs under the Parenting Por Vida including the Triple P AZ, Host Kith & Kin partnership, HEA plus partnership, and Parent Volunteers. This position will provide vision and strategic planning for PPV, and other programs as requested/needed within the Neighborhood Ministries (NM) community and will foster an atmosphere of compassion, creativity, learning, relational connectedness, and accountability. In addition to providing program management, due to the long-term relationship framework of NM, this position is responsible for building relationships of trust with participants, staff, and volunteers of PPV. Listening with compassion, without judgment, is critical to building trust. In helping to support young families, the Director is both a role model and, at times, a surrogate parent/grandparent figure with the goal to help build a community of hope, confident interdependence, and empathy. As families grow in these critical building blocks, the stability of individuals, families, and communities is strengthened. This position is exempt, and many responsibilities fall on evenings and weekends including attendance at baby showers, weddings, birthday parties, hospital visits, births, and deaths.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and train volunteers for programming needs including childcare needs with staff key volunteers.
  • Lead and plan the Parent Volunteer program alongside the Community Pastor.
  • Implement the Triple P curriculum, Host Kith Kin facilitators, and HEA plus partnership [for AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications].
  • Develop and plan programming details and calendar with other staff (transportation, food, childcare, etc.). Often this means hands-on involvement, i.e., doing childcare, helping prep meals, set up/tear down program space.
  • Coordinate and maintain community partnerships including other churches and communicate through e-mail and newsletters to donors and prayer partners quarterly or in emergent situations.
  • Draft and implement the annual budget.
  • Work with leadership and development teams in grant acquisitions, reporting, and presentations to funders. Coordinate data collection, processing, and reporting for donors and grantors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Health, Education, Social Work, or a related Human service field.
  • Knowledge and experience in Trauma Informed practices, Child Development, Parenting Skills, Maternal Health, and Mental Health

  • (Preferred) Additional Certifications and/or experience: Certified Parents as Teachers (PAT), Trauma Informed Care, Conscious Discipline, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Experience with breastfeeding or lactation education
  • Have the cultural competency to engage with participants and their families.
  • Be sensitive and compassionate in serving people with challenges and barriers in a complex urban environment.

Compensation
