Growing law firm seeking experienced probate, guardianship, and trust administration paralegal.

We are expanding the probate, guardianship, estate, and trust administration portion of our practice, which is where you come in.

About you: The right candidate will be excited about helping the firm develop its probate, guardianship and trust administration practice and the supporting office procedures so that the firm can assist clients in an organized and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

Here are a few things you would be doing (though not an all-inclusive list):

  • Assist with all aspects of probate, estate, and trust administration from start to finish; effectively correspond with clients, financial institutions, and beneficiaries to obtain needed information
  • Obtain, track, and completes all required forms to transfer securities
  • File claims for insurance proceeds and death benefits
  • Prepare accounts for estate administration or trust accounting
  • Correspond effectively with probate court as needed
  • Promptly respond to clients on all questions
  • Help prepare our attorney for guardianship proceedings

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word with a strong aptitude toward math and basic calculations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to document clearly
  • Well-organized and able to follow established procedures and utilize firm databases

You enjoy puzzles and pulling all the pieces together, as you may have to search for missing heirs and unclaimed property.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and empathy skills will enable you to correspond with a variety of folks on behalf of the client, including creditors, relatives, probate court, etc. It is vital that you are warm, friendly, energetic, poised, and team-oriented.

You will be meeting with clients both in person and by phone, and you will be dealing with various financial institutions on clients’ behalf.

And we know that the right person can absolutely be taught the right methods. Here are some of the other basic qualifications:

  • College Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
  • 2-5+ years’ experience with Florida probate, estate, and trust administration
  • Notary public a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of the internet, legal research tools, court websites, and familiarity with practice management software preferred
  • Comfortable in supporting more than one attorney and interacting with clients and other professionals
  • Ability to prioritize workloads with chancing priorities and manage workflow process effectively
  • Client service-oriented—must be passionate about helping clients and their families; take pride in and joy in providing the highest quality services possible, and enjoy creating a welcoming and warm environment
  • Confident, polished, professional demeanor and appearance, including how you speak and how you act with clients and other professionals
  • Able to learn, accurately follow, and manage workflow systems
  • Self-starter who thrives on immersion in a rapidly changing environment and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proactive, can-do attitude, with great follow-through and resourcefulness along with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be personable yet persistent

Compensation
$50,000 - $58,000 doe
