The Law Office of Kimberly L. Kelly, LLP is seeking a candidate for a paralegal position in our legal practice based in a small and friendly office environment just north of Boston. The firm represents individuals, hospitals, and nursing homes. Our practice areas include estate and special needs planning, Medicaid planning and applications, probate and trust administration, guardianships, conservatorships, and mental health commitments. Experience is preferred but not required.

The candidate must be responsible, reliable, and motivated. You will be part of a team supporting one to two attorneys with a heavy caseload involving guardianships, conservatorships, probate, mental health commitments, and estate planning.

 Hourly starting at $25 + DOE

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys by drafting basic estate planning documents such as health care proxies, durable powers of attorney, wills, and ancillary documents all under the supervision of the attorneys
  • Draft guardianship and conservatorship Massachusetts court forms
  • Draft trust instruments
  • Follow up with clients/their advisors to obtain information necessary to coordinate planning
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for estate planning review meetings, including reviewing documents and preparing summaries
  • Conduct basic legal research and miscellaneous problem-solving tasks
  • Draft and finalize accounts for trustees, conservators, and personal representatives
  • Manage update and maintain Quicken accounts for various clients
  • Prepare mailings to clients, advisors, and third parties
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing
  • Manage and execute bill paying on behalf of clients

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills, qualities, and knowledge:

  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Great attention to detail as you will be asked to proofread and edit documents daily
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to manage calendars, appointments, and various monthly and biweekly tasks
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and MassCourts
  • A comprehensive understanding of basic estate planning documents
  • Knowledge of court forms relevant to guardianship, conservatorship, and informal/formal probates
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as you will communicate directly with clients and advisors on a daily basis
  • A working knowledge of Quicken and Adobe Acrobat

Compensation
$25 + Hourly DOE
