Stafford Law Firm

Do you want to help families and small businesses protect their legacies?

We are an entrepreneurial estate planning and business law firm that is on track for aggressive growth and we need a fantastic paralegal to join our team and work directly with the firm owner to support the team and help our clients.

We want to be known for helping our clients put their personal estate and business affairs in order so that they walk away from our process with a huge weight lifted off their shoulders, with a clear vision of what the future holds for them and their families, and feeling like they have a team behind them that really cares about them. We are growing fast, and we need a paralegal who can hit the ground running.

We are a tech-forward firm, so you should be comfortable with learning new software, playing with the latest apps, and be able to solve basic tech problems yourself. If you're scared or simply not a fan of new tech, this position is probably not the best for you.

If the statements below appeal to you, then you may be our next team member!

  • You smile when you answer the phone
  • You are an amazing scheduler with a sickening degree of attention to detail
  • You are very good with calendars, e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing, and the internet
  • Your middle name is “No Drama”
  • You are an awesome juggler of tasks and can change gears quickly
  • You do not think scanning, copying or similar tasks are “beneath you”

We love to help people learn and grow, but we don’t have the time for that right now. We need a paralegal with drafting experience in estate planning, probate and business law. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand-holding. This full-time position will be expected to work in the office the majority of the time during normal business hours. There is an opportunity for bonus compensation for those who can demonstrate their value to the firm. If you're interested in advancing your paralegal career with opportunities for growth, we want to hear from you.

  • Draft legal documents for estate planning, probate and business law clients by using specialized drafting software or customizing document templates
  • Prepare and make legal filings with the Texas Secretary of State, USPTO, local court clerks, and other similar institutions
  • Prepare correspondence to clients, courts, clerks and other parties
  • Communicate with clients and other team members to give updates and collect necessary information
  • Maintain an organized digital filing system
  • Calendar legal deadlines and other important dates
  • Update the firm’s databases, reports, or spreadsheets to track case status and other important information
  • Help us continue to develop our internal systems, processes and procedures, and share insight on how they can be improved
  • Serve in a "backup" role to help answer phones, schedule consultations and perform other administrative duties as necessary due to staff vacations, illness, etc.

  • At least 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm setting
  • Experience with estate planning, probate or business law required (all 3 strongly preferred)
  • Experience using legal drafting software (WealthDocx, TxDocs, Form Builder, etc) strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working with and developing templates in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Comfortable working with web-based applications for case management, lead tracking, email, etc.
  • Talented communicator and writer
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Available to work full-time in the office

$55,000 - $65,000 yearly DOE
