Supervises the daily functions of the processing staff and works closely with the underwriting and closing dept to ensure quality control. Effectively explains to the department staff how to open, process, and underwrite loans in accordance with company policies and procedures. Assists with staff training. The duties for the Branch Operations Manager include, but are not limited to, those described below.


  • Review all New Files Submissions and confirm files are logged and follow-ups completed in a timely manner
  • Review all workflows from processing, underwriting closing department to make sure they meet expected turn times
  • Maintain pipeline milestones accurately and compliant with NOC
  • Manage assignments for processors based on individual capacity
  • Ensure ongoing communication is clear and concise between departments, ops, and sales
  • Provide management a daily pipeline summary
  • Weekly one on ones with team members to maintain open lines of communication and develop rapportHandle file escalations such as compliance failures, file rushes, UW condition disputes, and any UW/post-closing suspensions
  • Provide continuous training and development to team members
  • Work with management to Interview and Hire Ops team members as needed
  • Help manage internal scenario email box for the Sales team
  • Assist UW’s with validations on conditions or challenges to help keep files moving along
  • Work alongside Sales Manager and Training Manager to keep Sales and Ops up to date with current trends and guideline updates
  • Manage staff overtime, time cards, and vacation request



  • Two years of underwriting and or management experience preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in working with sales and processing of retail mortgage loans required
  • Extensive knowledge on Agency, FHA and Non QM guidelines required
  • 5 years Encompass experience and Proficient use of Microsoft products required 


  • Ability to make sound judgments regarding file resolution, credit decision, funding and post-closing issues
  • Ability to problem-solve and exercise sound judgment while displaying a high degree of initiative
  • Ability to handle assignments and maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills necessary to prioritize workload and delegate responsibilities effectively
