Provide collaborative service with outpatient therapists to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients for inpatient care in accordance with statutes, regulations, and protocols regulating the profession.


  • Medication management.  
  • Work independently with other members of the clinical team. 
  • Take part in an interdisciplinary team that provides primary care to patients.
  • Perform patients’ histories and physicals, risk factor assessment, ordering of therapeutic and diagnostic tests; and attend to consultations and appointments.
  • Prescribe medications following the clinic’s policy, formulary, and relevant regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  
  • Consult with psychiatrists on cases that are beyond the scope of qualification of PMHNP.
  • Put all relevant patient data in medical records and case presentations.
  • Formulate, execute, and review healthcare education delivered to patients and families for diseases prevention.
  • Ensure smooth communication with other health professionals for effective delivery of clinic service to patients.
  • Perform on-site clinical counseling services to patients of TPCC, as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies, and sound clinical practices. Sessions are held in office or via an approved telehealth platform.


  • Education: Masters of Science in Nursing, with a Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis, from an accredited college or university. Experience: Three (3) years of experience related to the above-described duties.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
