The Multi-Departmental Administrative Assistant will provide support to the Human Resources Director, Grants Management Director, and Executive Director.

Human Resources: ~30 hours/week

This employee will work under the direction of the Human Resources Director to help meet the HR goals of the organization. This employee will work in a support capacity for all HR functions, including but not limited to recruitment, employee records, payroll, and benefits. 

Grants Department: ~5 hours/week

The Assistant will work up to 5 hours a week offering administrative support to the Grants Department.

Executive Director: ~5 hours/week

This position will support the Executive Director in scheduling and preparing for meetings, including executive committee and board meetings.


Under the direction of the Human Resources Director:

  • Coordinates bi-weekly payroll in ADP and ensures that associated activities and reports are completed as required.
  • Helps new employees navigate the onboarding process for Homeward Bound.
  • Maintains employee personnel records.
  • Administers benefits changes for employees, including new enrollments, changes to coverage, and terminations/COBRA events.
  • Coordinates preliminary talent acquisition including job postings, resume reviews, and initial phone interviews.
  • Collaborates with the HR Director and Program Managers/Directors as a part of the hiring committees.
  • Schedules and coordinates New Hire Orientation with Program Directors.
  • Assists with basic unemployment claims paperwork.
  • Assists with meeting preparation and presentations.

Under the direction of the Grants Management Director:

  • At times, manage grant information in donor database.
  • Schedules and supports meetings—in person and virtual with donors and grant professionals.

Under the direction of the Executive Director:

  • Schedules and supports meetings – in person and virtual.
  • Assists with event and meeting preparation, including printing materials and/or packets, managing RSVPs, and providing drinks and food.

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably at a nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrable creativity and productivity in written, digital, and visual communications.
  • Experience with ADP payroll is preferred. 
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

$40,000 yearly
