The Mortgage Compliance Manager is responsible for providing the knowledge and expertise in Compliance-related items specific to the mortgage business process. Functions as a liaison between department staff, development teams, and corporate training to ensure content and communication for projects are complete and accurate. Serves as a proxy for Compliance department for project requests and prioritization. Provides business knowledge and analytical skills to assist in solving problems, improving processes, and refining requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, update and maintain the company's compliance management procedures, testing and overall protocols
  • Review and evaluate AHM's compliance processes and procedures in an independent manner, collaborating with senior management and driving change
  • Interact with state mortgage regulators, agencies, vendors, employees, and internal departments as needed to fulfill requests and obligations
  • Provide leadership, direction, and integration of compliance activities to fulfill the needs of the AHM and ensure adherence to applicable state and federal regulations
  • Provide assistance, leadership and guidance on strategic compliance monitoring systems and initiatives to applicable team members
  • Participate and lead AHM's strategic compliance planning process, including short- and long- term strategic plan development, review, approval, implementation and evaluation
  • Provide expert guidance, collaboration and support to the implementation process for key compliance strategies, initiatives and action plans
  • Draft policies and procedures to address federal and state regulatory requirements and how Atlantic Home Mortgage complies with applicable laws and policies
  • Survey required regulatory filings, including the quarterly and annual Mortgage Call Reports, state reports, and financial statements, with the assistance of AHM Senior Management
  • Manage and coordinate regulatory examinations, including exam scheduling, preparation, information procurement for examiners
  • Participate and collaborate in the development of compliance educational and training programs for corporate and production field team members
  • Oversee company-wide mortgage compliance reviews
  • Support the Licensing of the Company, Branch Offices, and Individuals and the Roll-Out of New States
  • Monitor third-party vendor systems to ensure compliance requirements are continually met
  • Resolve any Consumer Complaints, including coordinating responses with the appropriate parties within AHM, and identify compliance issues to address

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility with significant oversight responsibility within a mortgage compliance or quality control department of a financial institution or mortgage company
  • Familiarity with state licensing requirements
  • Recent mortgage compliance experience within the last 2-3 years' operating in mortgage production environment
  • Must have a hands-on working knowledge of Dodd/Frank, RESPA, TILA, Regulations X and Z, FCRA, Fair Lending, and other federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with the requirements of FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, FHA, and VA program requirements
  • Excellent judgment, critical thinking and communication skills to ensure Atlantic Home Mortgage is effectively adhering to established regulations and guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to develop institutional policies and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of investigation, negotiation, mediation and complaint resolution process

Compensation
$75,000 - $125,000 yearly
