Billing Specialist - Positive Change Counseling Center
Join our amazing Administrative Support team as our Billing Specialist! We pride ourselves on providing the best care for our clients - not only in the therapy room but also when answering questions related to insurance benefits and client payments. As the Billing Specialist, you will assist clients with any questions related to copayments and insurance coverage. In addition, you will be contacting insurance companies to obtain payment on denied claims to assist clients in receiving the correct coverage for their therapeutic services received at Positive Change Counseling Center.
This position is located in La Mesa, CA, and may have the option to be remote). This is for 40 hours per week.

Pay: $17-$22, DOE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Verify client health insurance/benefit information
- Insurance and EAP billing, including appropriate coding of services and modifiers
- Collecting co-payments and past-due balances from clients
- Insurance claims dispute reconciliation
- Verify client eligibility at beginning of the new calendar year
- Comply with company policies and procedures including HIPAA, ethics, conduct, and safe working expectations
- Understanding of medical billing terminology
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree or billing certification preferred
- Minimum of six months of prior medical billing experience
