The purpose of the Marketing Manager role is to execute and support the efforts of the Marketing Department to reach the strategic goals of the hotel, and restaurant(s). The Marketing Manager reports to HHM’s Senior Director of Marketing and serves the day-to-day tasks of executing social media and influencer marketing, public relations, digital marketing, collateral, photography and all other Marketing projects for the hotel.  

Marketing Manager position is a management track position in which the team member will work to develop expertise in social media and influencer relationships, copy and content writing, public relations and journalist relationships and overall hotel marketing functions as well as development of interpersonal and project management skills in order to grow as a future Marketing or Communications leader with Hersha Hospitality Management.



  • Work in step with the Marketing team, Director of Sales, and Director of Revenue to meet the organization’s top-line goals
  • Develop partnerships with like-minded businesses to develop packages that align with the hotel’s goals
  • Develop promotional copy and artwork materials (with HHM graphic designer) as needed for packages, events, social media, and happenings and ensure it is distributed as appropriate to internal team members, external partners and the right agencies
  • Coordinate the development of offers and packages with sales and revenue and ensure packages are communicated to the appropriate departments for execution

Social Media

  • Manage social media agencies to drive digital marketing and brand awareness goals
  • Craft supplemental social content to bolster the hotel and outlet(s) social channels that are in line with overarching social media strategy
  • Must have an eye for photography to capture ad hoc photo needs to support real-time activations
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of social media best practices and the creative ability to develop compelling content
  • Review and execute social media content and advertising calendar with the agency of record as well as with the Director of Marketing 
  • Review and manage social media advertising that drives digital marketing goals
  • Engage and coordinate stays/experiences with influencers to drive goals
  • Work with social media agencies to develop a strong social media community
  • Attend all social media meetings held by the agency of record and must actively contribute to conversations 

Sales & Revenue

  • Understand sales and revenue strategy to align marketing and make recommendations. Attend weekly revenue meetings and report on digital efforts to drive at goals
  • Coordinate the development of sales collateral and advertising materials and write copy as necessary
  • Ensure all external partner, agent and OTA extranets and touchpoints have the best representation of the hotel and are kept up to date. Work with the Director of Revenue to explore marketing opportunities to support OTA goals

Public Relations & Photography

  • Oversee and coordinate in-house and editorial photo shoots at the direction of the Director of Marketing and Director of Sales and liaise with the operations team to ensure a seamless experience for the photographer
  • Ensure all external, internal, and agency partners have the most up-to-date images to ensure the best representation of the hotel in all consumer touchpoints
  • Support PR efforts as needed, specifically in digital/online PR efforts and identifying influencers that will drive the digital goals
  • Attend all public relations meetings and actively contribute to conversations

Advertising & Media

  • Maintain the advertising calendar and coordinate artwork to be delivered on time
  • Maintain relationships with local advertising representatives
  • Liaise with ad reps or media buying agencies to ensure we are receiving the best deals and added value to maximize the opportunity for awareness
  • Make recommendations on media buys and partnerships based on the hotel’s needs and goals 


  • Ensure all details on The Rittenhouse Hotel and related websites are consistent and up to date
  • Act as in-house expert on website analytics and search engine marketing and work toward growth goals with appropriate agencies
  • Receive website reports for the hotel and report on findings to the Director of Sales and create a plan to grow KPIs
  • Hold regular calls with website and search engine marketing agency to ensure strategies are on track agencies are held accountable
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Marketing on new tactics or strategies as appropriate

Email Marketing

  • Act as in-house expert on email marketing and work toward the hotel, spa, and restaurant goals with HHM above property team
  • Develop, oversee and execute the strategic email marketing calendar for all entities with the goal of communicating the brand and maximizing revenue opportunities
  • Develop email tactical and newsletter content with an emphasis on maximizing open and click-through rates

Departmental Admin & Budget

  • At the direction of the Director of Marketing and Director of Sales & Marketing, build the yearly budget and gather the most accurate budget numbers
  • Reconcile budget with finance each month and update budgetary forecasts as needed
  • Penetrate partners in the industry by attending networking events, tradeshows, be able to engage and present as needed, be an ambassador of the brand

  • Strong copywriting and grammar skills; Knowledge of AP style
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Hospitality or similar concentration
  • 4-6 years marketing experience in hotel, restaurant, or marketing agency
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
