The Machinery Maintenance Technician's main priority is to keep machines in good working order. To do this, they must be able to detect and correct errors before the machine, or the products it produces, are damaged. The Machinery Maintenance Technician will use technical manuals, their understanding of industrial equipment, and careful observation to discover and correct the cause of a problem. They may also use computerized diagnostic systems and vibration analysis techniques to help figure out the source of problems.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing current and potential errors in the operation of machinery
  • Repairing errors efficiently
  • Test machinery once repaired
  • Maintaining a maintenance schedule
  • Working with production staff to ensure machinery is operating properly
  • Use tools of all sizes, powered and non-powered, in a safe manner
  • Operation of large equipment, skid steer and plow trucks

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: High school or general education diploma (GED) plus course work in equipment mechanics at a trade school. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a mechanic, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience operating medium-large equipment required.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures involved in maintenance repairs and replacement. Considerable knowledge of safety practices and techniques in mechanics. Able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment with accuracy and speed. Knowledge and understand the equipment, tools and materials used in machinery maintenance activities and services.  
  • Communication: Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Has the ability to solicit, process, and integrate input from peers and executives. Demonstrates tact and diplomacy with suppliers and other employees.
  • Team Building: Displays an active desire to be a team player. Achieves cohesion and effective team spirit with peers. Encourages an environment characterized by open, honest working relations where differences are constructively addressed rather than ignored, suppressed or denied.
  • Planning and Organizing: Ability to work within a plan, organize time, and direct work towards the matter which is most urgent.
  • Dependability: The individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance. 

Compensation

$15-$18 per hour

The company is now a full-service pallet manufacturing operation providing businesses in the food industries, the paper industry and a variety of other industries, with reconditioned, remanufactured and new pallets. Additionally, as a by-product utilization, the company also manufactures landscape mulches and animal bedding by recycling wood waste material.
