We require an experienced cook who is familiar with a wide range of cooking techniques, including poaching, braising, roasting, charbroiling, sautéing, grilling, frying, and baking. Responsibilities
- Keep all workstations, counters, cooking equipment, and refrigerators clean and sanitary according to health and safety rules
- Establish a system of food stations and stock them with all of the necessary ingredients for the shift
- Cook food orders at stations by following established recipes and presentation standards for grilling, broiling, and sautéing menu items
- Adhere to established storage and waste control standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to ensure quality food is served
- Interact with visitors, vendors, and associates while maintaining a professional and positive attitude
- Arrive on time and ready to work
- Ensure that proper preparation procedures have been completed
- Prepare the cooking areas for the shift
- Maintain the highest level of food quality obtainable
- Communicate with coworkers, waitstaff, and management
- Become aware of what is happening in the dining room (e.g. arrival of a large group)
- Account for every food item used
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen
- Follow all health and safety regulations prescribed
- Follow all the restaurant regulations prescribed
- Control and limit waste
- Communicate problems and ideas to management
- Attend all meetings
- Fill out all forms required
- Maintain all kitchen equipment and utensils
- Keep every area of the kitchen clean and organized
- Follow the proper rotation procedures
- Label and date products used
- Follow management instructions and suggestions
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be able to meet all safety and sanitation requirements of kitchen equipment and food storage
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED certification
- Previous experience working in food service is preferred
- Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
- Possesses a strong work ethic and have high attention to detail
- One year of cooking experience and/or Associate’s degree in the culinary arts field
- Knife skills
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Basic cooking knowledge
Compensation
$15 - $20 hourly
