Responsibilities include conducting psychological examinations and testing, as well as diagnosing, recommending treatment for patients with adjustment disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, multi-trauma injury, chronic pain, brain injury, and other mental health issues. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills are necessary since you'll be working with an interdisciplinary team, case managers, and other treatment providers to coordinate and collaborate on care. Responsibilities
- Offer patients referral services to outside therapists, clinics, and treatment facilities
- Help identify potential illnesses related to psychological, emotional, behavioral, or organizational concerns
- Analyze and identify behavioral or emotional patterns that can assist patients in better understanding and predicting behavior
- Write articles, research papers, and reports to share findings and educate others
- Observe, interview, and survey individuals in order to conduct scientific research on behavior and brain function
- Meeting with clients to listen to their problems, diagnosing their mental or emotional disorders, and building treatment plans and coping strategies for the client to follow
- Educate personnel and clients on stress and trauma coping mechanisms
- Provide individuals with the resources they need to reach their personal goals
- Monitor client progress and modify their treatment plans as needed
- Coordinate with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers, and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed services
- Monthly goal of 85 billable client sessions per month
Qualifications
- Current state licensure approved by the ASPPB (Association of State and Provincial Licensing Boards) in the state you practice
- Must have 1-3 years of supervised professional experience in a clinical setting
- Must have exceptional analytical skills, communication skills, and observational skills
- Must pass the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology
- Must have a master’s degree and a Doctorate of Psychology (PhD, EdD, PsyD)
Knowledge
- Two years of counseling, social work, or other related fields of mental health therapy
- Licensed in the state of Illinois
- Previous experience working with children and adolescents
- Previous experience working in a higher level of care
