Our staff is almost entirely remote utilizing offices in Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Duluth, and Stillwater, the last of which is our flagship office.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a practice manager with professional office experience. These activities include:

  • Works in coordination with the attorneys, administrative staff, and law firm owner with full accountability for providing the highest level of service to AFL clients resulting in retention and referrals, ensuring all staff is trained and functioning within the AFL Excellence standards.
  • Responsible for the operational and financial accountability of the practice, communicating any issues through the appropriate channels.
  • Coordinate communication and meetings between the attorneys and staff.
  • Effectively communicate and develop a strong working relationship with the owner and promote teamwork through cooperative and professional behaviors.
  • Follow and demonstrate commitment to the AFL policies, guidelines, professional expectations, and Service Excellence Standards.
  • Responsible with the owner for the development of their annual business plans and assuring successful achievement of those plans.
  • Conduct analysis and interpretation of monthly financial and operational performance of the practice to identify opportunities for improvement and communicate findings and recommendations to the owner.

  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize duties, demonstrating exceptional time-management skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to opportunities

Education and Knowledge

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree, desired in Business or closely related area
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in customer (client) service capacity
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of supervisory/management experience

Compensation
$60,000 yearly

PLA will oversee an assistant practice manager; finance/sales/office admin; and a legal staff of 4 paralegals, three attorneys, and a 3rd-year law student. Operations are also supported by outside vendors for bookkeeping, telephone reception, HR consulting, tech support, payroll, and law firm development consulting.
