The Law Firm COO provides oversight and management of the Firm and is responsible for the administrative and operational aspects of the offices, as well as the overall supervision of the human resource functions for legal and support personnel. The COO acts as a liaison between department leadership and the founder to ensure consistent application and execution of firm policies and procedures. This highly-visible leadership position develops and implements systems and strategies for improving administrative productivity and firm profitability, builds consensus by promoting positive employee communication and interaction, and fosters a positive, non-discriminatory, and harassment-free work environment. The COO reports directly to the Firm founder
Responsibilities
The high-level function of this role will be to manage resources, and ensure that the firm provides value to clients and that the firm generates consistent profits and growth.
- Provide leadership in promoting and maintaining firm culture and vision and integrating the staff to be a highly effective and committed organization.
- Manage human resources including hiring, firing, and training
- Provide vision and manage resources to deliver cost-effective services that drive firm competitiveness, value to clients, and profit.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic direction and plan.
- Monitor and evaluate trends in the legal industry and in the local community where the firm operates. Make recommendations to the Firm's founder as to how the firm should respond to these trends.
- Monitor current business trends and best practices. Maintain an expert understanding of federal, state, and other regulatory agency rules and guidelines. Communicate the impact of new developments and regulations and make appropriate recommendations for action
- Provide leadership to all administrative support functions and staff by participating in the development and implementation of an administrative strategic plan, and building a collaborative, team-oriented culture that strives for professional excellence. Manage, mentor, and develop staff and ensure that all functional resources are in alignment with the firm’s values, purpose, and vision.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Four-year college degree and/or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of supervisory/management experience in a comparable environment.
- Experience creating budgets.
- Contract negotiation experience; including leases, service contracts, and outsourcing agreements desirable.
- Space planning and utilization management experience are desirable.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, competency in financial reporting and analysis, and experience in operational budget preparation.
- Familiarity with fundamental human resources policies and procedures, as well as current state and federal statutory and regulatory employment law requirements.
- Ability to take concepts from inception to execution.
Compensation
$150,000 - $175,000
