The Hygiene Assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist and dental hygienist in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients. The Hygiene Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Setting up treatment rooms for procedures
- Preparing and maintaining dental instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Showing care and concern, and helping patients feel comfortable
- Reviewing health histories according to the practice’s protocol
- Performing expanded functions and other tasks assigned by the dentist
- Preparing dental materials, cements, composite, impression materials, etc.
- Charting patients and recording the date, service rendered, and any charges
- Ensuring that accurate treatment notes are recorded in patients’ charts
- Monitoring patient flow
- Providing patients with instructions and demonstrating proper techniques when necessary
- Oversee cleanliness of treatment room according to sterilization procedures and OSHA regulations
- Ensure office sterilization procedures are documented
- Seat hygiene patients
- Take radiographs
- Sit in with doctor on exams
- Apply fluoride varnish and walk patients to check out, with clear handoff for front desk person
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills, customer service, organization, and excellent communication skills are essential
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Cosmetic Dentistry Experience (Preferred)
- Treatment coordinating experience (Preferred)
- Eaglesoft (Preferred)
- DAI preferred (Great opportunity for a new DA)
Compensation
$18 - $19 hourly
