Reynolds Defense Firm is searching for the right person to fill our full-time HR Generalist position. This is a new role in our business, and we are excited to reach this point in our firm’s growth. This is primarily an in-person position working from our Portland office. 

We are looking for a positive, personable, and experienced HR Generalist, who knows what "good looks like" from the HR perspective and is excited about helping our growing firm get to our next level! This person will centralize our HR functions, support our leadership team regarding HR matters, and ensure that HR operates efficiently and smoothly as directed. This person will also be a member of RDF’s leadership team.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, practical, and will have experience in handling a wide range of human resources tasks in a growing, service-industry business. The right person must be comfortable with both change and ambiguity, as well as have the ability to tackle issues and build solutions even when the way forward doesn’t have pre-determined answers.

This person must be exceedingly well organized, and flexible, must have excellent attention to detail, is able to work independently with minimal supervision, and enjoys the challenges of a growing business and of supporting a company made up of people who believe that we truly make a difference in our clients’ lives.

In a nutshell, we need you to understand who RDF is as a business and a culture, as well as understand what we’re trying to accomplish, and then deliver practical and business-friendly HR solutions to help us get there!

Compensation: Annual salary range for this position is $55,000 to $80,000, depending upon experience and fit, plus bonus opportunities. Compensation also includes full medical and dental insurance after ninety-days, 401(k) with employer contribution after one year, generous holiday and paid time off policies, employee wellness programs, and more.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities - include but are not limited to the following:

1. Advise and provide support for our leadership team in human resources matters. Be a force that supports our business growth and success while helping us take great care of our employees. This is a team built around a purpose, not a dollar sign, and, the business must do well for us to keep helping folks!

2. Employee Search: Understand who we need, find qualified candidates, interview top talent, and onboard, orient, and train new employees who have the abilities and cultural fit for long-term success at RDF.

3. Ensure top HR performance of company staff by providing them great coaching and guidance. Manage internal staff relations and enhance/maintain RDF’s culture and positive working environment while reinforcing our core values. Handle all internal HR-related inquiries and concerns.

4. Policies and Procedures: Assess, improve, develop, maintain and streamline RDF policies and procedures, and ensure they are implemented appropriately after approval. Make sure our policy and procedure manual is complete, organized, and easily used.

5. Employee Information: Assessment of current systems and materials, develop, update and/or maintain company handbooks, employee files, payroll, operations, and discipline, as necessary. Utilize our HR Information System (Bamboo) to its fullest capabilities.

6. Employee Review Process: Develop/coordinate/manage RDF’s employee review process. Assist and partner with leadership in development, coaching, and performance management.

7. Wage and Hour/Employment Laws: Ensure RDF’s compliance with all local/state/federal wage and hour/employment laws, rules, and regulations for our Oregon employees as well as our remote employees in four other states.

8. Maintain and update all benefit programs.

9. Process and approve office payroll, in coordination with our CFO.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of three to five years of experience as an HR Generalist in a fast-growing business, service industry preferred, with at least 30 employees
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or HR management is preferred
  • SHRM or similar certification

  • A willingness to dig in and make a difference here. This is not a passive role - from the HR perspective, we need someone to move us from ‘functioning’ to ‘fantastic’!
  • An ability to work individually and as part of a team, and to both provide and receive new ideas and inputs
  • This is an in-person, Portland-based position, and requires proof of Covid vaccination
