Hotel Indigo is looking for a strong maintenance technician to work under our Chief Engineer. This person will be responsible for preventative maintenance work at the hotel that includes but not limited to, painting, shelving, caulking, HVAC maintenance, plumbing, lighting etc. We need someone who is a strong go getter and not someone who needs direction. We need someone who moves quick and pays attention to detail.

The primary duty of the hotel maintenance technician is to ensure the smooth daily operation and guest appeal of the hotel. Within the hotel, maintenance technician should do small repairs, such as patching drywall, fixing faulty wiring, or unclogging drains. More complex problems may require the maintenance chief to consult blueprints or product manuals in order to fix boilers or air-conditioning motors.

• High school diploma and have several years of maintenance experience
• Has gained extensive experience with installing and troubleshooting electrical switches, operating boilers, and repairing appliances
• Prior hotel maintenance position
• Must have reliable transportation and work weekends
• Must arrive on time and ready to work for every scheduled shift

The Hotel Indigo Birmingham is located in a landmark Art Deco-style building dating from the early 1930s in the city's historic Five Points South neighborhood. Originally designed for medical offices and across from the first apothecary in Birmingham, the building became a hotel in the 1980s, but still retains its original medical insignia etched above the elevator doors.
