Who We’re Looking For

Applicants must have a very strong work ethic and a true love for dogs and puppies. A passion for growing a business and devotion to delivering exceptional customer experience is a must. The person we are looking for has a positive, can-do attitude, exceptional communication and problem-solving skills and a desire to learn and grow in their management and leadership capabilities. In addition to all of the above, the right candidate is not afraid to get in, roll up their sleeves, and shovel dog poop.

Work Environment

Because of the nature of this business, the candidate we are looking for must live within 30 minutes of our beautiful 19-acre farm in western New York near the shore of Lake Ontario. There are 2 fully operational houses and a barn on the property. Our current managers live on the property. While not a requirement to be considered for this role, special consideration will be given to candidates that are able to live on-site at the farm.

General Operations

• Clean pens and crates of all dogs on premises
• Feed all doges on premises
• Maintain all exercise and socialization schedules of all dogs on premises
• Light grooming and cleaning of all dogs on premises
• Manage & coordinate vendors providing services and support to the property and breeding operation
• Local transport of dogs
• Supervision of all medical care for dogs
• Coordinate schedules of part-time employees
• Maintain all medical records of all dogs in the breeding program

Medical Care Responsibilities

• Obtain and analyze fecal samples
• Perform venipuncture for phlebotomy (or supervise a qualified person who will perform such duties)
• Conduct progesterone testing
• Assist females in the delivery of their litters
• Administer vaccines and deworming medications
• Supervise all veterinary care and maintain communication with all Doctors
• Schedule medical appointments for all dogs

Additional Duties

• Managing the whelping process of all puppies over an 8-week period
• Manage the socialization process of all whelping puppies
• Assist on puppy picking days with customers coming to pick their puppy
• Maintain compliance with NYS Dept. of Agriculture and Markets
• Work with Owner on strategies to grow the business
• Work with Owner to create content to post on social media
• Supervise and schedule employees

• Previous work with dogs or livestock preferred
• Experience supervising employees preferred
• Must be able to multi-task and remain VERY organized
• Able to use the following Technologies: Slack and Google Sheets
• Exceptional written and communications skills, a must
