WORK ENVIRONMENT  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance with all OSHA regulations, follow all safety rules and report any unsafe conditions, properly use all personal protection equipment and comply with 5S guidelines to ensure a clean and organized work place are essential
  • Assist shipping and receiving with material handling
  • Housekeeping and general upkeep of the shot blaster and areas surrounding it
  • Daily and weekly startup and shutdown of the shot blaster including the weekly and monthly PMs
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Must know proper and safe operation of forklift with forks and boom.
  • Must know proper techniques for hooking and un-hooking coils of rods and wire.
  • Must know how and what to look for on coils that would cause problems in other operations and take corrective action (such as melted on wire or metal tags, etc.).
  • Must have knowledge of, pay close attention to the various scale and abnormal conditions encountered from numerous rod suppliers to ensure proper shot blasting and maintain quality levels of product.
  • Must have knowledge of and pay close attention to running conditions of all areas on the shot blaster and their relationship to results achieved.
  • Must have knowledge of the various types of wire manufactured, coatings needed for this wire. 
  • Must have knowledge of ERP system and ability to input data.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Compensation
$12.05 per hour
