Boutique family law firm in the Galleria area of Dallas is seeking for the perfect match in a superior, seasoned Senior Attorney at least 10 years' prior experience in a family law firm. Candidates not meeting these requirements will not be considered.

Hours: Full-Time, 45+ hours/week                             Overtime: Exempt

Schedule: Variable; required office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., flexible depending on case/hearing/trial needs

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience; eligible for earned bonus compensation

Benefits: Paid Holidays and PTO (eligible @ 90 days), Health Insurance benefits (eligible @ 60 days), Long Term Disability Insurance benefits (eligible @ 180 days), Retirement benefits (eligible @ 1 year), budget for State Bar Fees/Professional Organizations/CLE.

A J.D. from an accredited law school, a license to practice law in the state of Texas, and an active membership in the State Bar of Texas is mandatory.

Responsibilities

This role in our firm is crucial to caring for our clients in both a compassionate and efficient manner. Positive, friendly, and professional interpersonal skills are essential requirements for becoming a member of our firm. The perfect applicant must be able to:

  • Meet with clients to assess their needs; strategize and develop a plan for achieving client’s goals; prepare clients for case proceedings; be accessible to clients as needed throughout their case’s progression
  • Assist in monitoring, prioritizing, organizing and facilitating daily workflow for self, other attorneys, paralegals, support staff
  • Prepare and finalize wide range of legal documents including pleadings, briefs, memorandums, orders, discovery and reports, using templates as provided; research legal issues, prepare memorandum regarding analysis of same
  • Monitor and promote effective daily operations and firm operational systems as they apply to client work; monitor case dockets, calendar, events and deadlines; manage own calendars, oversee the scheduling of appointments, hearings; oversee tracking of deadlines and time-sensitive tasks
  • Oversee, counsel, and mentor associates and paralegals, supporting them in further developing expertise and skills; provide ongoing feedback to associates and paralegals; provide input in the employee review process
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals in developing case strategy and litigation plans
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, firm personnel, court personnel
  • When acting as lead attorney, thoroughly prepare for hearings, trials, conferences, mediations; collaborate with paralegals and support staff regarding same; prepare themselves and clients in advance for mediations, depositions and hearings; attend hearings, trials, conferences, mediations when required
  • Comply with all federal, state, county and local laws, bar rules, legal standards, codes, regulations
  • 10. Enter time accurately and contemporaneously into the Firm’s case management system; timely review client invoices to ensure accuracy as well as monitor case events
  • Participate as necessary in addressing accounts receivable balances on client cases
  • Participate in marketing activities, including networking opportunities and events, including writing blogs, conducting presentations, leading potential client consultations, maintain contact with former clients and lead sources, and other marketing activities as requested
  • Attend continuing education seminars and workshops to further professional development and maintain CLE status
  • Sustain membership in area Bar associations and relevant practice groups as requested and approved
  • Assist the Owner and Executive Director in furthering the mission of the Firm as directed; assist Executive Director in implementing Firm policies, procedures and other directives regarding attorneys, paralegals and support staff

Metrics for Success:

  • Meets billing requirement of 1500 hours/year (125 hours/mo.)
  • Conducts at least 100 hours/year of networking and marketing activities
  • Receives no negative client reviews, no complaints from team members
  • Meets or exceed expectations as indicated on periodic personnel evaluations
  • Meets case deadlines
  • Enters time entered into case management software within 24 hours of performing; does not require significant adjustments to time entered (accuracy and efficiency)

Qualifications

A Senior Attorney at our Firm unequivocally has the following skills:

  • Knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code; Knowledge of legal terminology, processes, documents, case flow, case law

  • Robust verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly collaborative in nature; strong Interpersonal skills in working with clients, attorneys, court personnel, Firm members
  • Proven ability in training and managing attorneys, paralegals and support staff effectively
  • Knowledge of basic business strategic planning and personnel management skills
  • Experience working as lead attorney on complex family law issues, willing to support other Firm members as needed to support our clients
  • Able to adhere to and assist with enforcement of the Firm’s policies and procedures
  • Show professionalism and integrity at all times
  • Able to exercise high levels of discretion, confidentiality, and sensitivity
  • Possesses personality, character, humor, intelligence, and compassion; a team member who genuinely cares about the people for whom and with whom they are working; has a positive and friendly attitude
  • Possess 10+ years of experience in a family law firm with robust litigation experience and experience overseeing casework of attorneys and paralegals
