The Equipment Maintenance Manager Opportunity:

Veev is looking for an Equipment Maintenance Leader to provide technical knowledge sufficient to optimize equipment/tool selection, acquisition, utilization, optimization, and reliability.

Veev is a Home Builder using manufacturing technology to deliver innovative consumer products. The ideal candidate must have experience with high-speed rotating equipment and rolled steel manufacturing, multi-axis CNC, laser, automation systems and robotics.

Automation implementation experience is ideal, specifically with mechanical assist systems, robotics, conveyors, vacuum systems, and overhead cranes. 

The Equipment Maintenance Manager is working in a role that actively commissions equipment, repairs damaged equipment, and requires working in tight spaces, requiring walking and standing prolonged periods, as well as, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day.

The Equipment Maintenance Manager will lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize other hand tools and power tools as needed.

Responsibilities

People Management

  • Manage, coach, develop and train an existing maintenance team to deliver measurable results, ensures reliable equipment operation, provides hands on technical expertise in repairs, equipment selection and end of service life decisions
  • Develop Service Level Agreement for internal customers, track and report performance to plan and provide open and honest feedback to direct reports on performance.
  • Teach the team to assess, prioritize and correct, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment operations.
  • Coach the team to use technical manuals, vendor resources and external resources to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of employee trust, safety and respect.

Leadership

  • Optimize equipment to maximize equipment/team service life and production output
  • Develop an annual equipment maintenance budget, including labor, outside contractors, parts and materials, appropriate inventory, utilities, etc.
  • Establish redundancy and/or contingency plans for key equipment including proper spare parts management and or external support.
  • Build strategic working relationships with equipment manufacturers, repair technicians and parts suppliers to optimize repairs, plan for outages and acquire real time updates and changes.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance in alignment with the Engineering Services team.
  • Project Execution, Contractor/Vendor Management
  • Participates in capital project planning including maintainability design, cost estimation, payback justification, and contractor management.
  • Manage the process of the introduction of new equipment, plant and equipment from drawing up to specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
  • Assist and provide recommendation on selection of contracting and vendors and supports vendor/contract management.

Qualifications

Requirements, Knowledge, Experience

  • Machine shop maintenance experience preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in maintenance / equipment management / leadership role
  • 5+ years of extensive experience with troubleshooting and correcting industrial equipment maintenance - breakdowns and failures
  • Experience in team building, coaching and succession planning for technical and engineering personnel
  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment on a journeyman level. Experience within a department is a plus
  • CNC, welding equipment, cranes, and the 3-D printer for now, with more to come
  • Lean manufacturing skills and systems development
  • Project management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Must have demonstrable skills in the following areas:
  • Equipment Operation Availability / % OEE improvement
  • System development to track current shop conditions
  • Mechatronics
  • Identification of key areas of improvement
  • Breakdown management
  • Understanding of short-term vs long term actions
  • Systems used to prevent repeat occurrences
  • PM / TPM development and implementation
  • Reference to past improvement initiatives / % improvements
  • Equipment spare parts management
  • Critical vs noncritical parts determination
  • Audit methods to ensure no risk condition
  • Training & development
  • Assessment of current skills sets
  • Training action plans

Compensation
$120,000 - $140,000 yearly
