The legal assistant performs a variety of tasks to assist clients with their estate and long-term care planning and also delivers high-quality services to staff and clients while exhibiting a commitment to integrity and excellence. This scope of responsibilities includes prioritizing, managing, and following through on multiple tasks, and communicating effectively, courteously, and professionally with clients and staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform records research online and at courthouses, including but not limited to researching deeds and gas leases.
  • Record documents at the county courthouse as well as at the Department of State, IRS, the Office of Veteran’s Affairs, and the Department of Public Welfare.
  • Draft and proofread legal documents and forms for accuracy and consistency, including but not limited to deeds, leases, wills, living wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and guardianships.
  • Interact with clients and referral sources serving as witnesses during signing appointments.
  • Perform general operational tasks including but not limited to answering the phone and forwarding messages, copying, scanning, mailings, and postage, assisting drop-in clients, filing paperwork, handling voice mail messages, etc., all according to Firm policies and procedures. 
  • Work to make client satisfaction a top priority, finding a quick resolution to client complaints and concerns.
  • Report any potential threats to the success of Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak to the Executive Director or Owner. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and personnel information in accordance with Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak’s confidentiality policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • An Associate’s degree or some college is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is necessary
  • Display excellent written, problem-solving, and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle high-volume workloads
  • History of being deadline-driven and extremely organized
  • Maintain punctuality with all tasks and responsibilities

Compensation
$18 - $20 hourly
