As the Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing all operational aspects of Sugar Creek Transportation. Your strategic leadership and expertise will drive our company's success and ensure the smooth functioning of our trucking operations. You will be responsible for managing a diverse team, fostering a culture of excellence, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with all department management teams to ensure that operations run smoothly
- Manage the budgets of all departments, including purchase journals, expenses, capital requests, and quarterly deviation reports
- Integrate guest satisfaction as a component of staff meetings, with an emphasis on developing new strategies to improve performance consistently
- Develop and implement strategies to guarantee a positive experience that surpasses guest expectations
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for all operational activities within Sugar Creek Transportation
- Oversee and optimize fleet management, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and timely delivery of goods
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency and quality of service
- Collaborate closely with the executive team to establish and achieve operational goals and targets
- Manage and mentor a team of operations managers, dispatchers, and support staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement measures to improve operational performance
- Identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction, and implement innovative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and make recommendations for strategic improvements
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of prior hospitality experience, preferably at a full-service hotel
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a similar field is required
- Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and leadership skills
- Exhibits working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
- Must have previous management experience in a hospitality or hotel management role
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus
- Proven experience (minimum of 4 years) in a leadership role within the transportation or logistics industry, preferably in trucking operations
- Strong knowledge of trucking operations, including fleet management, driver management, load planning, and routing
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams
- Sound knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards
- Proficiency in using transportation management software and other relevant tools
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Compensation
$75,000 - $100,000 yearly
