Dental Assistant - Patient Educator

We are growing and our busy advanced pediatric dental practice would love to add talented, energized, and educated members to our team! This is a unique opportunity in the dental field! The dental assistant will greet patients, lead them to the examining room, and prepare them to see the dentist. Main responsibilities include assisting the dentist in examining, educating the patient and parent, and cleaning the patients’ teeth. May also perform some dental procedures on their own if qualified. Will perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and organizing patient records as needed. We take disinfection protocol and personal safety very seriously and have made changes to extend those measures. We will provide an N95 mask for maximum protection.

Responsibilities

  • Educating patient and parents on proactive and preventative dental care
  • Gathering patient information and health background
  • Providing patient care and support
  • Taking digital X-rays, 3D scans of patient’s teeth and processing results
  • Preparing the work area for procedures
  • Assisting the dentist by handing them instruments and equipment, taking notes when needed
  • Educating patients on good oral hygiene, nutrition, and sleep habits
  • Individuals who display aptitude and interest will be given employer-paid career advancement opportunities
  • Preparing materials for crowns or dental impressions
  • Performing coronal polishing, sealant application, fluoride application, and topical anesthetic application as needed
  • Assisting in restorative dental procedures
  • Directing patients and maintaining the schedule
  • Stocking treatment areas and monitoring inventory
  • Sterilization of work area and instruments as needed
  • Examine current workflows to help optimize processes
  • We are a pediatric practice and see ages 2 days old - 18 years old

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Dental Assistant experience preferred, but willing to train
  • Bachelor's degree or graduation from a two-year college program in a related discipline is preferred but not required
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures
  • Compassionate and caring of patients
  • Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques
  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn new systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A great conversationalist, with the ability to quickly build rapport and credibility
  • Ability to multitask and work independently or with co-workers in a close, team environment required
  • Enjoy being in a dynamic job where no task is above or below you
  • A constant drive to improve self-learning and the experience of our patients
  • Calm and cool-headed with a positive attitude
  • Complies with all regulations, protocols, and procedures
  • Ability to work 36-38 hours per week (some days as early as 6:30 am and ending some days at 7 pm)
  • Ability to work 1-2 Saturday's per month (7:30 am-1 pm)
  • Reliable transportation to Ashburn, Virginia in all types of weather

Compensation
$16 - $25 hourly
