We are seeking a highly skilled, excellent, and all around wonderful human being to serve as an Associate Attorney in Key West, Monroe County, Florida.

  • 4 Day Work Week. We work a 4 Day Work Week of Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our teammates receive full time pay for four days of work. There are exceptions, of course, such as when court hearings, trials, or trial preparations require work on Fridays. In our experience, though, those events are rare for Fridays. If you work here, you have a three-day weekend every weekend.
  • Paid Time Off. We recognize the importance of rest and recuperation. After 90 days of service with the firm, our Associate enjoys unlimited Paid Time Off, so you can have control over the amount of rest and recovery that you need to be productive and effective at work.
  • Remote Work. Our rockstar associate must reside in the Lower Keys of Monroe County, but you have the authority to pick the location where they work. You can work from home. Or, we have a beautiful office available for you to work. Or, you can work in another location, so long as it is a suitable environment to make and receive phone calls and to be productive. Aside from the obvious location requirements, such as court appearances, you have the ability to choose the location that works best for you.
  • 401(k) and Retirement Planning. All teammates receive a 401(k), and we contribute 3% of your salary regardless of whether or not you contribute to your 401(k). (Though, you should.) And, we pay for a financial planner, so you know how to invest your money. There is no vesting waiting period. We invest in your future, if you are not doing so. (Though, again, you should.)
  • Health Insurance. The firm provides affordable health and dental insurance.
  • Mind, Body, and Spirit Allowance. Each teammate receive a $125.00 reimbursement each quarter for activities that rejuvenate and replenish their mind, body, and spirit (e.g. yoga classes, gym memberships, massages, etc.).
  • Bar Dues. The firm pays your dues to The Florida Bar.
  • Continuing Legal Education. With the approval of the owner, the firm will reimburse the costs for CLE attendance. (Note: you must be fully licensed and CLE-compliant to be hired.)


  • Case Management. Serve as the primary attorney with nearly complete autonony in representing defendants in County Court and Circuit Court in Key West, Marathon, and Plantation Key.
  • Client Counseling. Regularly communicate with clients regarding their unique life goals and dreams, so we can craft a legal strategy to ensure those dreams come to fruition.
  • Recordkeeping. Maintain client files and notes in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff
  • Court Hearings. Attend all court hearings - in-person or virtual - and provide top notch advocacy.
  • Legal Writing. Draft pursausive motions and supervise and approve the paralegal's drafting of notices and basic motions practice.
  • Teamwork. Embrace your role in the our legal department and collaborate with our marketing team, intake team, and legal assistants.


Our perfect candidate will have:

  • Florida Bar Membership. Active membership with The Florida Bar.
  • Experienced Criminal Defense Advocate. Our Associate must be able to hit the ground running. We need a competent criminal litigator with extensive experience in criminal defense. You must have excellent working knowledge of Florida criminal statutes, case law, and procedure, excellent verbal and written communication skills and courtroom prowess, strong aptitude in analyzing cases, developing case theories, and strategies, and evaluating the best resolution for the client and his or her future.
  • Positive Energy. We have a strict No Jerk Policy, which includes our teammates. We are looking for a positive, compassionate, fun person, who we will enjoy working with and who our clients will like to have in their corner. Life is too short to work with jerks. No drama allowed.
  • Compassionate and Empathetic Outlook. Much of the job includes helping arrestees navigate the criminal justice system. You must be able to treat clients with empathy and compassion, especially when they are stressed and scared.
  • “Batteries Included.” Our Associate must be able to manage their own caseload with little hands-on input from the law firm owner. Our firm values hard workers, who take ownership of their responsibilities and take initiative over their projects. Our Associate must be must be self-confident, team player, who is respectful, trustworthy with high integrity, and professional. We are looking for passion that is balanced with stoic, level-headed approach to cases.
  • Technology Savvy. You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, email, and basic computer skills. And, you must be able to learn new programs. (If you’re the kind of person who has decided that you are not good at technology, this isn’t the firm for you.)
  • Communication Skills. You must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Research Skills. You must demonstrate strong research and analytical skills.
  • Time Management. Strong time management skills with the proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Team Player. You have the ability to interact effectively with others – able to follow instructions and open to ideas, suggestions, and criticism.
