The Ranches is seeking a full-time, part-time, or contract licensed counselor for our facility south of Belen, New Mexico. 

The counselor will work with the adolescents and their families. The primary work place will be at the campus facility. Some evening hours and infrequent on-call involved. 

The Ranches is a non-denominational Christian organization providing residential care to children ages 12-18. The ultimate goal of our program is reuniting the child with their family, when practical. While counseling services are provided for all residents, it is not a treatment center. Admission is voluntary, and all youth must be willing to commit to making changes in their behavior before they are admitted.

Salary depends on experience. You'll receive dental reimbursement, paid vacation, paid health insurance, and LTD.

  • Conduct initial assessments with potential Ranch clients as assigned, and write follow-up report
  • Maintain caseload as assigned
  • Work cooperatively with collaboration team
  • Teach training sessions as assigned
  • Provide referrals to other resources in the community, as needed
  • Record keeping and documentation
  • Document all counseling and support services
  • Maintain files according to legal and agency requirements
  • Submit monty reports of client statistics and program status, car mileage, and agency-related expenses
  • Communicate status/progress of Ranch residents and/or their families to appropriate Ranch staff
  • Attend meetings and communicate concerns as requested
  • Represent the agency as needed within the community

  • Master’s level counseling degree and NM licensure. 
  • Strong oral, written, interviewing and crisis intervention skills. 
  • Ability to provide various modalities of therapy with creativity and the ability to work in a multi-cultural collaborative team environment.
