Controller for Boutique Commercial Real Estate Firm

Boutique San Francisco-based commercial real estate firm is seeking a controller who wants to build on their current professional aspirations as having been familiar with this role. This position requires someone in a hybrid capacity. Your focus will be on the careful management of transactions, being the touch point for agent deals, as well as forecasting pipeline health and financial reports to leadership.

We're looking for someone who has experience working in a brokerage, or somewhat similar, type of environment. It is face-paced and requires a sharp eye for detail, extremely self-sufficient organization, and proactive thinking. We are also open to offering a space in our trendy brick and timber office for a professional freelancer, already positioned to offer these services, with a hybrid schedule depending on experience and skill set.


  • Analyze, organize, and manage the company’s finances
  • Oversee all accounting operations including A/R and A/P
  • Work closely with the leadership team on listing-related financial inquiries
  • Evaluate and prepare all annual budgets and review all expenses
  • Review pending deals that need to be approved via Dealius (pipeline management platform)
  • Send out invoices to clients and follow up on outstanding payments
  • Reconcile Dealius AR to Quickbooks
  • Allocate downloaded transactions from the credit card and bank accounts
  • Pay bills and monitor budget/spending
  • Receive AR payments and deposit checks
  • Pay commissions to agents and enter info to Dealius
  • Make sure that AR transactions that come over from Dealius to QBO are properly allocated
  • Make sure that the Agent payables that come over into QBO are properly allocated
  • Reconcile all bank, credit card, and credit lines to QBO
  • Manage payroll for a select few salary employees
  • Directly process and oversee daily bank reconciliations

  • Having a streamlined process for generating yearly tax returns
  • Looking at our outgoing expenses in order to make payments on time
  • Bachelor's in Accounting
  • AppFolio proficient (preferred)
  • Accounting: 5 years (preferred)
  • GAAP: 3 years (preferred)
  • CPA (preferred)
  • 3 years or more experience with commercial real estate transactions
  • Ability to maintain positive client, tenant, and team relationships
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment

$75+ (negotiable based on experience and skillset)
