We are looking for an experienced construction Controller for our growing company. The ideal person would have 5 to 8 years of construction accounting experience with at least 3 years working as a Controller. Now we realize we can’t have everything we want so we are willing to look if your experience is close.
The ideal person to fill our position would look at being a member of a strong team as an essential part of life. To you being authentic and having an attitude of win or learn but never lose would be a normal part of the way you live your life and approach relationships. You would expect the same from the people you work with and the people who lead you. You also lead and manage the same way. Now we realize there is a lot of talk about teamwork out there… blah, blah, blah… but we are talking about real teamwork where we support each other and are growing every day from winning or learning.
Now if you don’t have the experience or agree with what you’ve read up to now, then we suggest you stop here because we don’t want to waste anymore of your time.
Since you are still reading you must be a team player, but we have a few questions for you before you send us your resume. Are you a hard worker who really knows construction job costing well? If you were in our offices and talking to our project managers, you could hold a conversation with them and explain the costing allocations to them for any of their jobs? To you this is fun and a great way to help them meet their budgets and keep cost under control. You’re not the kind of person who wants to show them how smart you are but you really want to help them understand the cost and status of their jobs from the accounting perspective.
Our next question is, simply, can you produce the financial statements for the company and manage the annual audit? If we asked you to tell us what statements make up financial statements you know the answer and we don’t have to wait for you to remember, you know. You also know the intricacies of account reconciliations and how to document a close a construction company’s books. Now I know you may be laughing at this point but keep reading. If you are not laughing and don’t understand what this paragraph is talking about do us both a favor and stop reading so we don’t waste each other’s time.
So, we still have your interest. Allow us to share a few more things about what we would like to see in our Controller. You have an excellent understanding of cash and how to manage the daily, weekly, monthly and annual cash flow. You can manage the compliance reporting for all government agencies. You can analyze and review the compliance of contracts to. You’re not afraid to perform any task needing attention in the business (also known as a “jack of all trades”). You have the flexibility to travel for two to four days once every few months. If you’re someone who is humble and have the attitude that we all win together we really want, you to keep reading.
Now the last few things to help you decide if you want to go forward and see if we’re a fit. If we had worked with you in the past, we would now describe you as; mature, punctual, a deep desire to serve the people you work with, and you make mistakes but you own your mistakes and learn from them.
Now if this advertisement of our opportunity spoke to you and you’re excited to send us your resume please follow our instructions closely because we really want to talk to you!
Please upload your resume with a cover letter explaining why you would be a great candidate and tell us what you’d accept as your salary and what benefits you’re expecting. The site will have you take some quick assessments and after reviewing your information we will contact you if we think there is a fit. Thank you in advance for your interest!
