Estimator -- Plumbing -- New Commercial Construction

Ross Plumbing, (Contractor No. CFC056481) is looking for an Estimator to can calculate and submit comprehensive bids that regularly win contracts at a reasonable profit helping to achieve company growth.

Our family-owned and family-operated company has been in business since 1983. We currently bid on projects throughout Florida and have expanded the scope of projects we are bidding on.

Responsibilities

The Estimator performs the following tasks:

  • Calculate cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare material lists for shop fabrication and vendors and order miscellaneous materials required for installation of plumbing systems.
  • Review and qualify vendor quotes and against bid documents to ensure accurate scope coverage at the time of the bid.
  • Perform detailed bid document review to accurately capture/solicit vendors/subs for quotes.
  • Attend Pre-Bid Surveys to incorporate site conditions into the estimate.
  • Perform detailed take-offs and produce estimate software reports.
  • Identify, compile and submit RFI questions in a timely manner.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and Project Managers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Collect remaining estimating price data (i.e., management and general conditions costs).
  • Perform breakout, alternate & value engineering pricing as required.
  • Assist with proposal scope letters for accurate inclusions, exclusions & qualifications.
  • Provide project turnover information after award.
  • Assist in tracking bid status to acquire bid results.
  • Participate in prime/general contractor bid review meetings.
  • Select inclusions, exclusions & qualifications for accurate proposal scope letters.
  • Provide project turnover information after award and participate in turnover meetings.
  • Assist in tracking bid status to acquire bid results.
  • Determine actual project scope and cost.
  • Set up job schedules and timelines.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or HS Diploma with 3 years estimating experience or HS Diploma with 5 years trade-related experience.
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes and systems.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Estimating Software, Excel, Word, and other relevant computer programs.
  • Knowledge of standard English written grammar and English usage.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Meet deadlines and plan and organize work.
  • Win work at a reasonable profit.
  • Maintain consistent attention to detail.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Compensation
$20 - $25 hourly DOE
