The CFO is a member of the senior management team. The CFO has oversight responsibility and is accountable to the CEO,for Interact’s overall financial management, analysis, reporting, and other strategic responsibilities as may be delegated by the CEO. A position with internal and external responsibilities, the CFO interacts with government administrators, health insurers and peer organizations. The position also supports the Board Finance and Audit Committees in carrying out their oversight responsibilities. 

Direct reports include the Finance Director, IT consultant. This position requires someone that is excited to grow and build upon the foundation on Intercommunity Action, Inc to expand their reach and abilities to help others. The ideal candidate will be a great communicator, a bringer of new ideas and systems, and be comfortable with mass amounts of change and a need to adapt on the fly. With this role, there is a lot of room to expand and experience widespread growth as the company continues to pick up even more momentum.

Responsibilities

Interact’s next CFO will work with the CEO and others on the senior management team to develop and lead a new path forward for Interact. The CFO will take the lead on the following.

  • Manage day-to-day financial functions to insure good communication; efficient operations; timely reporting; appropriate use of resources; and a healthy internal control environment. 
  • Work with the CEO and CFO to establish annual budgets and ensure programmatic activity adheres to the budget. 
  • Oversee and direct the financial and accounting activities involved in budget planning, preparation, and analysis; grant management; contract preparation and compliance; purchasing; and risk management activities. 
  • Oversee Interact’s 401(K) Retirement Plan assets, related vendor relationships, and other activities. 
  • Act as liaison between Interact and external constituencies such as financial institutions, investment firms, retirement plan consultants, auditors, and others. 
  • Manage the administration of internal financial policies, procedures, and controls necessary to ensure accurate and timely reports. 
  • Act as the financial compliance coordinator for Interact insuring that the officers and staff are fully familiar and taking the necessary actions to comply with changing state, federal and other reporting requirements, and programs. 
  • Perform such other job-related duties and special projects as may be assigned by the CEO. 

Qualifications

Interact recognizes that not everyone has every characteristic needed to excel in a position at the time of hire. The ideal candidate will possess a significant portion of these qualifications.

  • MBA preferred. 
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, & listening) skills.
  • Experience as a Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance, or comparable senior manager. Nonprofit and/or healthcare experience a plus.
  • Ability to balance business needs and consider the mission-driven nature of a nonprofit human services provider. 
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting, finance, and tax matters.
  • Experience with government funding and compliance issues.
  • Ability to direct the efforts of others, build teams, provide constructive feedback, and lead employees to the successful completion of assigned tasks.
  • Exceptional analytical ability including the capacity to compile and organize data, make decisions, and recommend and implement strategies. 
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences, including public sector funders, employees, the board of directors, senior staff, and the CEO. 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with creative problem-solving ability.

Compensation
$130,000-$140,000 + comprehensive benefits package

Intercommunity Action, Inc. (Interact) is a 52-year-old, 501(c)(3) nonprofit human services provider headquartered in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia serving people in Northwest Philadelphia as well as operating several citywide programs. With a staff of 400 and an annual operating budget of $20 Million, Interact has three major service lines: behavioral health services, services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and aging services. The organization also created several support organizations that own and manage supportive housing. Interact’s more than two dozen programs serve over 3000 people annually.
