People’s OC is searching for a full-time chemical engineer to direct the management and operation of chemistry in our state of the art laboratory. The chemical engineer will asses the chemical structure and nature of substances of cannabis concentrates that are manufactured in our facilities. Ensuring the production of accurate and timely results of data analysis, research, development, design, operation, evaluation and improvement of processes, equipment, methods or products.

Responsibilities
  • Manages quality control activities to be in full compliance with the current good manufacturing, practices communication proficiency, laboratory standards and guidelines. The chemist has ultimate responsibility for product quality. 
  • Identifies and implements new product concepts to produce new proprietary blends using products.
  • Supervises the conduct of chemical analyses determining the presence/quantity of chemical products.
  • Initiates the implementation of new analytical methods that foster high quality, cost efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Investigates, reviews and approves out-of-specification, out-of-trend results and out-of-expectation test results. 
  • Prepares, delegates and reviews laboratory documentation including investigation reports, protocols, validation reports, regulatory submissions, testing methods and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Manages various development/prototyping programs. This will involve planning and scheduling, identification and purchase of raw materials, and leading the activities of lower level employees.
  • Identifies and implements new product concepts to produce new proprietary blends using products.

The chemical engineer must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while applying proficient organizational skills. Experienced understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to cannabis concentrates. The position requires excellent written, oral and communication skills. Must be self motivated and team oriented. The chemical engineer must have the ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple assignments. Ability to maintain confidentiality, analyze and make decisions. High degree of professionalism and conduct at all times. Strong computer skills. Must be 21 and over.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field. 
  • At least five years of experience in a quality control environment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master of Science in chemical engineering.
  • Work that has led to patents.

Expected hours of work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel: No overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Local day travel may be necessary.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
