Our office is expanding and we’re looking for a medical assistant to help us provide first-class patient care! You’ll be responsible for greeting patients and scheduling appointments and work directly with our healthcare staff to record patient histories, collect test samples, and assist with examinations. Our ideal candidate preferably has some experience working in a medical office performing clinical tasks or in an administrative role and knows how to build an excellent rapport with people. Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare staff with examinations by handing the appropriate medical instrument and supplies to the physician, positioning the patient, and helping with other tasks as needed
  • Get examination rooms ready for patients by ensuring the rooms are well-stocked and at a comfortable temperature and all equipment is sterilized
  • Complete the patient’s insurance forms in their records, notating all symptoms, test results, diagnoses, treatment instructions, and prescriptions
  • Document the patient’s vital signs including respiration rate, blood pressure, respiration rate, and pulse and write down the information in their chart
  • Collect blood samples from patients and send to the lab for testing under direct supervision

Naturopathic Assistant Duties

  • Primary goal – Provide better patient care by allowing the doctors to focus their time and energy on scheduled patients
  • Uphold values and pursue mission statement
  • Primary contact for patients while they are in back
  • Daily cleaning of front lobby, IV suite, bathrooms and break room
  • Vitals – all intakes, follow‐ups and IVs (BIAs as needed)
  • Blood draws and process labs
  • Setup for IVs and monitor drips
  • Backup for Docs for sensitive or invasive procedures
  • B‐12 shots under doctor supervision
  • Charting for all procedures (phlebotomy, specimen collection, IMs, IV assist, etc)
  • Opening and closing duties based on shift (see list in Daily Duties binder)
  • Emergency drills (as organized by CMO)
  • Receptionist backup (tinctures, phones, stock shelves, etc)
  • Inventory (product, doctor office, injectable, lab kit or medical supply) and ordering as scheduled – see order log
  • Naturopathic Assistant Expectations
  • Arrive on time and be ready to work at the start of your shift. Stay late only when requested by one of the Doctors or by checking in with Office Manager
  • Be aware of the schedule and come up front to collect patients prior to their appointment time.
  • Prep all lab requisitions, tubes, insurance the day before draw
  • Communicate any personal schedule changes at least 1 week ahead
  • You are not a salesperson. No medical advice will be given
  • All patient interactions will be documented. Schedule changes can be documented electronically
  • Chart all encounters and file for review within 24 hours of appointment

Qualifications
  • Possesses basic computer skills to complete administrative tasks
  • Previous experience as a medical assistant performing administrative duties or similar role in a healthcare work environment is preferred
  • Must have completed an accredited medical assisting program and a supervised externship in a healthcare setting
  • Solid communication and customer service skills
  • High school diploma or GED
Compensation
$16 - $17 hourly
